Goal 1:
1. Eradicate extreme poverty and hunger
Overall the Region will reflect what happens in the various areas that exist within its boundaries. Currently , the Congo region is not on track to meet the millenium development goal of eradicating the poverty, rape, and murder that plagues the region. The Democratic Republic of Kinshasa is no exception to this since it exists in the overall congo. The Congo is one of the poorest countries in the world (Economically). Although they do have access to many precious minerals, rare (and most likely expensive) animals, and rain forests.

Goal 3:
3. Gender equality (and empowerment of women)
According to “Half The Sky” by [insert name here] , the Congo is one of the worst places on Earth to be a women. Mass rape has become a tool of both bonding, and warfare. It is used by the government, guerilla factions, and the victims are almost always female. ( and often are not adults). The book was published in 2009, but according to articles written in 2012 (december) , this problem has not been lessened. The congo is not on track to meeting the millenium development goal of Gender Equality (Female Empowerment). It place behind Yemen in the Gender Inequality Index.

Goal 4:
4. Reduce Child Mortality
http://www.sida.se/English/Countries-and-regions/Africa/Democratic-Republic-of-Congo-/Programmes-and-projects1/Child-programme-to-reduce-child-mortality-rate/
Although the overall child mortality rate dropped between 2002 -2012 , the change has not had much of an affect on the congo. The child mortality rate is 170 out of every 1000 children. Many factors have contributed to this statistic, the lack of government control,(civil war), and a lack of funding for the health of their people. Less than 5% of the countries budget was spent on healthcare. In addition to this, there are some areas where travel is difficult because of a lack of roadways or safety. There is currently a plan being set into action by UNICEF, that will (if it works) reduce both child and maternal mortality rate. Since the child mortality in the Congo is amongst the worst in the world, it is safe to say that is on not on track to achieving this millenium development goal on time.
